Question

Saving Files to Disk before LR Import

I was a user of Picasa before I "graduated" to LR.

Even after switching to LR, I found Picasa had a useful method of adding files from my SD Card to my hard drive.  It would automatically create sub folders for each date in the Main Folder.

My work flow is to transfer both jpg and raw files to my hard drive and then import raw files to LR>

Picasa is not supported anymore and it seems to search for images in my entire hard drive, creating duplicates , while now importing files from my SD card.

Is there any program or macro out there that would duplicate Picasa's importing...

Automatically creating sub folder for each date a picture was taken....

thanks

Sure. There are many ways, and copying your photos from external media into structured subfolders is even the default.

You need to differentiate between "Copy" or "Add" during import.

I suggest reading more about it first, for instance here.
