say no to sliders

can we please come up with an alternative setting adjustment other than sliders?…trying to set it to zero or zoom into 100%…

Multiple alternatives already exist, you just have to use them. If your example is wanting to get to 100% zoom immediately, the slider isn’t the way, because a slider is for rough adjustments (that is true in any program). You said you wanted to "say no to sliders" so there are several different ways, using the mouse, menu, or keyboard, that have already been available to you in Lightroom Classic for many years. All of these are actually less work than clicking and typing "100%" because they are one-step solutions:

You can click "100% in the Navigator panel.

You can choose "Zoom to 100%" from the View menu, or you can press the keyboard shortcut shown next to that command. 

You can press the spacebar or the Z key, because those are both single-key shortcuts for the command View > Toggle Zoom View. What that does is instantly toggle between the current magnification (whatever it is) and 100%. 

(I guess this is geared towards kindergarten children.)

You might find that the thousands of working professionals who use this software would disagree with you. But that's because they didn’t get stuck using only the zoom slider in the toolbar at the bottom of the window (which I never use, I don’t like it)…they studied the app and understand that magnification controls — especially direct shortcuts to 100% — are offered in several ways in several places to fit your working style.

What I do in the Develop module is:

• If I want an arbitrary magnification, I hold down the Shift key and drag left or right on the image because I want to set that visually, not by fiddly typing. 
• If I want 100%, I hit the spacebar or press the keyboard shortcut for View > Zoom to 100%.

Those aren’t the only ways, but those are the ways that fit the way I like to work. Some people use the Navigator panel all the time, others only use keyboard shortcuts. Study and understand the whole application first, then pick the way you want to do it.

If you have been using other zoom values than 100% or Fit view, it is difficult to drag the slider to 100%.

Double-click the slider to zoom to exactly 100%.

Perhaps a class at say the local Jr College may be called for. Their may also be classes at local photo stores, clubs, or organizations. The courses are often structured into various parts, starting with A Basic Introduction, then Middle level, and advanced. And of course, at a good bookstore you will find proper material on how to use LrC.
