Scared to update to 15.1

Is it safe to update now to LrC 15.1? Ive been avoiding it since 14.1 because all I hear about on here are problems. Im running Mac OS Sequoia 15.6.1 on a Macbook Pro M1. My Generative AI Removal has been playing up, running error messages when trying to delete objects, so I wonder whether its time to bite the bullet and hit the update. However, I'd hate to be disappointed with a slower app or some other problem people have been having trouble with.

Correct answer skups

Thanks for the details! We do see issues with the catalog you've shared. Our team is investigating a similar issue, and we'll forward this information to them as well.

Please stay tuned!

Thanks,
Nikunj

@nikunj.m @Claire H. The issue is fixed in 15.1.1! Thank you 🙂

Upgraded to 15.1 last night and it's been a nightmare. I have a MacBook Pro running Sequoia 15.6.1. Folders and sub folders had exclamation points and question marks. Widespread disconnects from the folders on my external drive. I've been working last night and all day today trying to restore from last backup be for the problem started, using ChatGTP to guide me. Many computer crashes and two brand new catalogs later, I think I finally have a clean, working catalog.

Hi @Gutsy4, thanks for sharing your experience! Could you send us some more information on your system? What were you trying to do when Lightroom Classic and your computer were crashing? Your feedback and information help identify any issues that other users may also be experiencing. Thanks again! ^CH

Horrendous problems! Import takes hours, cannot determine duplicate shots, import doesn't show most of the images, won't allow me to keyword & import only some of the shots - all or nothing including previously imported despite setting to do not import duplicates! Nasty update - avoid at all costs!

Just as a data point, that‘s almost exactly the configuration I have:

14" MacBook Pro with an M1 Pro processor

macOS 15 (although I’m updated to 15.7.3, maybe try that?)

I haven’t noticed any problems, I’ve processed many photos since version 15 came out. Lightroom Classic 15 is running right now.

Sounds great! I'll update my OS and then have a crack at LrC 15.1 and see how it goes.

Thanks for getting back.

Hi, just updated to 15.1 myself.... don't do it, not yet anyway.

Every single photo I applied AI effects to, e.g. background blur and denoise, I am now unable to edit or export as it brings up an error 😔 that's about 1,500 from my last shoot and now not sure what to do!

Hi @jay_2047! Thank you for reaching out! I'm sorry to hear that the newer version is causing you trouble. You mentioned that it gives you an error. Could you please share a screenshot so that we can take a closer look? Also, share your system info as well. In LrC, from Help> System info > Copy and paste the contents into a text/Word file. You can share it via Google Drive, WeTransfer, or another public file-sharing platform.

Thanks a lot!

On this forum you only hear from people having problems. There are millions of users (I guess) with 15.1 working fine.
I you are an amateur / enthusiast: go for it.
If you are a professional with business that highly depends on lightroom, why would you want to update?

In the meanwhile we are on 15.1 (edited) and this looks oke on my Mac.
What system are you using?

@rudolfl27731976 Actually 15.1 is the last version, released just one day ago.

@Seaquence As 15.1 has been released only one day ago, you could wait for a week or two to see what the reactions are.
