Selecting photos in jpg before getting the RAW

Hi!
I work with photographers sometimes far away and sending photos can take some time. It could speed up the process if I can get the jpg first, do the selection, and then link them to the RAW when I get them. Is it possible in Lightroom?.

Do I understand you are editing photos for another photographer client?

If your client sends you an Exported 'shared' Catalog with only Smart Previews- it will be just as fast as sending JPGs. (SPs can be under 1MB each!)

And you only need to return the Catalog with your edits to the client so they can Import from the 'Shared' Catalog and automatically 'link' your edits to their raw files.

Please explain in more detail if I do not understand your problem.
