Semi-automated workflow in LR btw DSLR and iPhone
I'm new to Lightroom and trying to wrap my head around how to integrate my two photo sources in as an automated flow as possible.
Using DSLR and iPhone cam.
LR Classic installed on my iMac. Chose Classic because of geotagging and the better folder control.
Using Google Photos as it's a very good solution for sharing with family, viewing photo library on work computer etc. Also it gives certain control over the files through the Google Backup and Sync.
In addition to my RAWs, I wish to get my iphone pictures into Lightroom as that should be my master library. I wish them to be accessible for LR Import automatically, so that I don't need to export from phone or attaching it through USB. There are at least two stabile possibilities, Google- and Apple Photos (iCloud).
My problem is I can't figure out how to avoid circularity, duplicates / too many versions of pictures etc.
Use case: At an event I take pictures with both DSLR and Iphone. In addition, my friend sends me a photo he took, through whatsapp. I save that to photo roll.
At home, I import from DSLR, I then import the phone cam pictures through a download folder pointed to by Google Backup and Sync. They all end up in same folder. I then go through with editing. I then publish everything to Google Photos for sharing.
Now, when I publish "back" to Google Photos, there will be close-to-dublettes there for the phone cam pictures, as the originals are there and also the LR edits that are republished. Obiousy I can delete the originals from Google Photos but that's not in line with the automated flow I try to accomplish.
Am I overcomplicating my workflow? Any suggestion on how to better set it up? Any way to make Apple iCloud set up to export to non-ApplePhotos folder on my iMac that would improve the workflow as Google Photos will not be duplicating?
Thankful for any advise.
