You don't need to Register your serial number to your Adobe account in order to buy either the Upgrade version of LR 6 or subscribe to the Photography subscription plan to get both LR and PS.

If you buy LR 6 Upgrade during the install and startup for the first time it will ask for the LR 6 serial number and then since it is an Upgrade version it will ask you for the serial number from a Previous version. You then Type in the serial number from LR 4.

And yes you already registered the LR 4 serial number under your old email address. So you can't Re-Register it under your new email address.

Your old email address was used for signing into the Adobe Account to which the software is registered? You can still type that in AS THE ACCOUNT'S USERNAME, even if you are no longer sending and receiving emails at that prior address.

Then once signed into that Adobe account, you can update its email address details. I believe you can also change the username itself.

The point is to maintain (contractual) continuity of that prior account, and thus, retain access to that same software licensing. A brand new and separate account would be of no use with that.
