Setup for LrC and NAS System...is it possible?

So far, I've gotten multiple different answers to this question, so now I'm coming to the experts for advice. Looking specifically at the new(-ish) UGREEN DXP2800 or DH2300 NAS systems, I want to see if I could set up my LrC Catalog and photos to be stored on the NAS with the capability of accessing on both my home PC (Windows 11) and my Macbook Pro (M4 Pro).

Currently, both my Catalog and photo originals are saved to an external SSD that I can swap between the PC and Macbook Pro. I want to store everything on the NAS, which would be located at my house, so that I have the ability to pull up both my Catalog and photos from anywhere. I also want to be able to have my edits saved to the NAS so that if I edit a photo on my Macbook, I can later pull it up on my Windows PC and pick up where I left off. Obviously, I wouldn't try to have LrC open on both machines at the same time. This is simply my idea for a portable workflow without having to plug/unplug an external SSD and take it with me wherever I go.

Would this be possible? And if so, how would I go about setting it up?

Storing the LrC catalog on a NAS or any type of network server is not supported. It's been that way since day 1 (9 January 2006) and will likely remaing that way until LrC is no more.

@Ian Lyons I've seen this before, but is there any reason why this is so? UGREEN technical support said this:
"Both the DXP2800 or DH2300 systems act as a centralized storage solution, enabling you to store your Lightroom catalog and DNG files on the NAS. This ensures that all edits and updates are saved in one location. . . . By connecting the NAS to your home network, you can access your Lightroom catalog and photos from either device over the network. This eliminates the need for a portable SSD and ensures that your edits are synchronized. . . . UGREEN NAS supports remote access through UGREENlink, allowing you to securely connect to your NAS from outside your home network. This means you can access your Lightroom catalog and photos from anywhere with an internet connection. . . . Not supported by Adobe, even if UGREEN thinks it is supported. Adobe understands the design of Lightroom Classic better. So you take a huge risk using the catalog in ways it was not intended to be used.

I should also add, the NAS would be connected to Ethernet which is also what my home PC is connected to. It wouldn't be a true "Cloud" system, since there would actually be physical drives used for the NAS. Also, the UGREEN has "UGREENlink," which allows you to securely connect to your NAS from outside your home network.
