Since going to LR Classic 15.5, the Masking tools are not working correctly

Since going to the 15.5 release, the Masking tools are not working correctly.  As with the attached screenshot, though there is clearly a subject, the Subject mask cannot find it.  I tried with several other photos and got the same results (on equally obvious subjects).

    AI detection may have been disabled during self test after you upgrade. Use the following steps to reset

     

    Quit Lightroom Classic.

    Locate the Camera Raw GPU Config.txt file.

    • (macOS) /Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/GPU/Adobe Lightroom Classic/Camera Raw GPU Config.txt
    • (Windows) \Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\GPU\Adobe Lightroom Classic\Camera Raw GPU Config.txt

    • Manually delete the Camera Raw GPU Config.txt file.

    • Relaunch Lightroom Classic.

    On macOS, the user Library folder is hidden by default in macOS. Use the directions here.

     

    If above doesn’t resolve the issue, then please post the LrC System Info. This can be obtained from the LrC Help > System Info menu  option. Use the provided Copy button to capture the info, then post into a forum reply

    ​@Ian Lyons did you leave out a step in the above instructions? After you locate the file, you need to delete it.

    I must have deleted the last two steps when I removed text associated with older versions of macOS.

      I cant reproduce this on my Windows machine. And the identifying subjects on the appropriate image is more difficult as yours. I’ve also tried several other similar images; all works ok.   

       

      First I would try a reset of the preferences of Lightroom Classic:  How to reset Lightroom Classic preferences (adobe.com)
