Sliders not working in Develop

all the sliders in develop i.e. exposure, contract, highlights,shadows, clarity, saturation etc have stopped having an affect. the sliders are working but the

image on screen is not changing.

this happened when my smart pad went a bit funny one night and obviously unchecked a button somewhere without me knowing

any idea on how to get changes to show on screen?
