Slideshow processing progress stalls at around 10%

Issue: Slideshow processing progress stalls at around 10%

  • Lightroom Classic Version Number: 11.5, build 202208080927-8a575c91
  • OS Version Number: Windows 11

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Chose Slideshow module
  2. Select pictures to become part of the slideshow
  3. Choose Export Video option

Expected result: A slideshow video file created.
Actual result: The slideshow preparation process stalls at around 10%.

The following options have been tried to resolve the problem, none of them helped:

- disable video card support, test, re-enable, test

- change resolution from 1080p to 480x270, test

- choose a different Export destination where the photos included in the slideshow are, test

- Slideshow option Zoom to Fill Frame ON, test, OFF, test

- Cleared video cache, test, increase video cache size, test

- Choose entirely different st of pictures, use the default Slideshow option, test

The slideshow option worked fine when I used it last time in March.

I have a client (and another two more very soon) waiting for the slideshow video and need to get it resolved ASAP to deliver the product they ordered.

Thank you

Kamila

I have the very same issue and tried various approaches with no success. Has this been resolved, if so, please forward the solution. Very frustrating.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. I’ll need a little more information so that I can help you with this.

Please specify the type of photos you are working on. Are they JPEG or RAW? Are you creating the slideshow from a collection with any missing images? Does this happen with all images/collections, or do any specific images behave similarly?

Please use images with uniform dimensions (only landscapes or portraits) in the slideshow as a test.

You can also try to clear the caches manually by following these steps:

Go to the following location

  • C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Lightroom\
  • Press the Windows > Enter 'Run' > Type %localappdata%\Adobe\Lightroom

  • Rename the 'Caches' folder as 'Caches.old' (add .old at the end)
  • Restart Lightroom Classic

Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!

Hi Sameer,

Thanks for the prompt reply. This happens with any images in any format. For a test I have installed a fresh copy of Lightroom Classic on my other PC, and used the very same images to create a slideshow. This works as expected (with mixed pictures in landscape and portrait formats) so there's definietly some culprit in my primary Lightroom Classic setup I've used for years.

Renaming the Caches folder, and restarting the program, has not resolved the problem. I can see a brand new Caches folder with not much content in it, but still the same symptom. The export stalls at 9%.

Thanks

Could someone from Adobe support please look into it. I still am not able to use the Slideshow at all, and the problem has NOT been fixed with the latest Lightroom software update.
