Sluggisch and jumpy scrolling in left hand panel

I’m noticing that the left hand panel in Lightroom Classic scrolls really sluggishly and jerks / jumps around.   I’m running MacOS 26.4 and it has been like this for quite some time (not just on 26).

It’s really hard to scroll precisely, you have to sort of wait for it to catch up.   Rather annoying.

I have recently formatted and reconfigured my MacBook from scratch.  This issue was present before and is still present after.  So I don’t feel it’s something a reinstallation of Lightroom Classic would solve as i’ve in effect already tried that.

@rctneil thanks for the update! Can you send your system info, a screen recording of the issue, and a numbered list of the exact steps needed to replicate it? You can find your system info by going to Help > System Info, copying and pasting it into a text file, and attaching it here.

You can still contact our Chat Support team for real-time assistance by clicking the three dots here: https://adobe.ly/4pc1lmJ.Thanks! ^CH

Try closing all of the panels in left track to see if there’s any improvement. If there is an improvement, then reopen each in turn to see which causes the poor scrolling.

Unfortunately there is no change when trying that.  It’s weird

Hi @rctneil, Thanks for reaching out! That does sound annoying, so let’s try some basic troubleshooting first.

    1. Optimize Performance Settings: Open Lightroom Classic, go to Preferences, and under the Performance tab, check if the Use Graphics Processor option is enabled. If it is, try toggling it off and then back on.

    2. Reset Lightroom Classic Preferences: Please refer to this Helpx article for steps.  https://adobe.ly/3HsQXpA It is recommended to back up your catalog before resetting preferences. You may refer to this article for more information:  https://adobe.ly/4dW8vqF.
    3. Check System Resources: Ensure that your system is not running low on resources (CPU, RAM). Close other applications that may be using significant resources.

If you’re still experiencing this issue after trying these steps, let us know, and we can continue troubleshooting. I hope this helps! ^CH

Thanks for checking in.  I’ve just tried all those steps and this is still occurring.

The issue mainly happens in the left hand sidebar and it’s just lagging behind actual scrolls.  It zooms to catch up and struggles to stay in sync with scrolls that have taken place.

Just feels like it’s constantly playing catch-up.

Which module are you referring to?

If the Develop module, could it be that you’re hovering the cursor near or over the Presets panel and inadvertently triggering a preset rendering?

It would also be helpful if you would post the LrC System Info to this thread. You can obtain this from the LrC Help > System Info menu item. Use the Copy button at top right corner of the System Info dialog to capture the info.
