Question

SOFT PROOF - NEW ICC PROFILES ADDED NOT DISPLAYED

System used: Mac Os Mojave

Latest version of Lightroom CC

Question:

I've added in Library/Color Sync/Profiles new ICC Profiles for printing but when I try to select (in Develop Mode/Soft Proofing/Profiles/Other) the new ICC Profiles  I don't find them (also if I choose Include Display Profiles).

Quite the opposite in Photoshop CC 2018: in the soft proof I find the new ICC Profiles.

But I need them in Lightroom... Why I don't see them?

Profiles are installed in the system folder, but then somewhere along the road they are copied over to an Adobe folder, which is where the applications access them. Exactly when and how this copying over occurs I don't know. But if they don't show in the relevant Adobe folder they can usually be manually copied from the system folder.

For all I know, there could be a reason that Lightroom doesn't display the profiles.

Maybe they don't conform to certain standards, or something similar.

But on Windows, you can copy color profiles to this folder:

C:\Users\User name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Color Profiles, and Lightroom will see them.

I'm not sure what the Mac equivalent is, possibly /Library/Application Support.

That worked. Thanks.

Anyway, I think it is a bug, because it was working with photoshop, but not lightroom.

The workaround to copy it manually works for me.

Is this for a printer? If so, go and download the latest software for that printer, including drivers, a new set of icc profiles and a new install of the profiles should come along with that. Several members with Canon printers have run into this and that was a solution.

Unfortunately isn't for my printer. I've to customize some photos for a print service (White Wall) and I've downloaded their correct ICC profiles.

So, go to:

Frequently asked questions (FAQ) - WhiteWall

Follow directions.

Note that once installed, and you soft prof, you will need to select other and browse.
