Soft proofing not possible with or without use of GPU

Issue: Not possible to use Soft proofing

  • Lightroom classic version: 12.3 (fresh install)
    • OS: Win 11 22621.1702


    Steps to reproduce:

    1.  Select any photo in Develop (with GPU acceleration)
    2. Click Soft prrofing tick box or text. Nothing happens.
    3. No Soft Proofing menu appears in place of the Histogram at upper right corner
    4. Turn of GPU acceleration in Settings.
    5. Click on Soft Proofing tick box -> opens the Soft proofing menu and allows for Proofing copy to be made
    6.  Press Y to see Current and Proof Preview. -> Proof preview is shown, Current is just a grey box where the image should have been
    7. Turn on GPU acceleration in Settings
    8. The images now swaps, so the Current image is displayed, while the Proof preview disappears (only background, no grey box where the image should've been.)
    9. Toggling GPU acceleration toggles the images between prrof preview and current.

    10. Expected result: Proof preview compares Proof to current
      Actual result: With GPU acceleration it is not possible to initiate the Soft Proofing. Without GPU acceleration,it is not possible to compare with the "Current" image.

Hi, and thanks for your reply,

I had checked that Windows update and the Nvidia drivers were all up to date. I did reinstall the graphics drivers.

Lightroom was reinstalled from Creative Cloud previously today, and the preferences were reset.

 

Did another check, and the problem is still present.

What happened if you try to switch off the GPU support from the Lightroom preferences?

Go to Lightroom > Preferences > Performance tab > Uncheck "Use Graphics Processor" > Restart Lightroom.

Does the SoftProof is now working?

 

Do you have installed the Studio Version of the NVidia driver? If no, please try to install the latest Studio version for your graphic card.

 

Try to deinstall the LogiOptions plugin and check the SoftProof. I don't know if that helps, but this plugin causes several problems in the past.

    Is your system up-to-date? If you have install the latest patches, updates and the reden drivers (especially the driver for the graphical device).

    What you can try is to reset the preferences to the default settings.

    Reset Procedure:

    • Close Lightroom.
    • Windows: Hold down [Alt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.
      Mac: Hold down [Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.
    • Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.
    • Close Lightroom.
    • Restart Lightroom.

     

    It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:

    If this doesn't help we need more informations about your environment.

    Please provide also a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be get from the LrC Help > System Info menu item.
