Soft Proofing Using Lightroom 14.2

Just to be clear, the Develop module is the only module where the soft proof view is available. The soft-proofing preview is not available in any other module. So what should be happening is that the Print module displays a preview that’s consistent with the Develop module with soft-proofing off, or Loupe view, etc.

Although it would be nice to be able to maintain the soft-proof print simulation in the Print module, as far as I know the Print module is not currently designed to show a soft-proofed preview. It also isn’t necessary, because after you complete the edits needed to make the image look good in the soft proof preview in Develop, those changes remain applied even after soft-proof preview is turned off, so it will still print as intended.

In other words — and in case you are already fully aware of this, I’m describing the following for others who might read this and might not know — just turning on soft proofing does not change the document in any way. It’s only a simulated preview to give you a reliable visual context for making Develop edits that are appropriate for the intended printer profile. Once those edits are done properly, you can stop worrying about whether the image is going to print the way you want because you took care of that. In the Print module, you should only be concerned with finalizing the print layout (size and position on the selected paper size, etc.) and color management settings. 

Sorry for aany descriptive confusion I my have caused.  I soft proof in the develop module but those changes are not reflected in the image once I jump over to the print module. 

I went ahead and reset the LightroomPreferences and restarted.  That seems to have corrected the problem.  Now soft proof changes made in the develop module do reflect in the print module.

I guess the old adage remains true.  When in doubt restart and reset.

What do you mean with 'the original image and not the image I have just soft proofed'? Soft proofing is done in the Develop module. It shows you a simulation of what the print will look like. The Print Module does not show you that simulation, it shows the image as it is.
