I am addressing the problem of connecting the Sony A7R V camera to lightroom Classic (latest version). The camera is not detected by the program, and Live View and controls are not working.
Laptop No. 1 ( Huawei MateBook X Pro 2024 )
The Sony A7RV camera (firmware 3.0) does not connect to lightroom Classic (latest version 23...)
Using a tether tools cable (USB-C → USB-A) with a USB-C 3.0 adapter in order to plug into a laptop.
I tried another high-speed cable without an adapter (USB-C → USB-C) - and it doesn't connect either.
At the same time, the fuji xt3 camera with the same cable is immediately detected on Huawei MateBook X Pro 2024.
Sony's native Imaging Edge app sees everything and connects everything, everything is OK.
Laptop No. 2 (my old one)
I tried: on a new laptop, connect a Sony A7RV via a tether tools cable (USB-C → USB-A) and everything works without problems, the camera is displayed.
All camera settings for "Remote shooting" are enabled.
The camera is being sent to the Device Manager.
USB controllers are error-free.
I've tried installing other versions of lightroom Classic, but it doesn't help.
Also, running "lightroom Classic Run as administrator" does not help either.
The essence of the problem:
lightroom Classic does not recognize Sony A7R V via USB.
In the list of devices in lightroom Classic, the camera is not displayed at all.
At the same time, the camera is connected, and Windows sees it.
Live View and computer shooting via lightroom Classic are not possible.
What has already been done: Connection
verified:
The original USB-C → USB-C cable is used (I also tried USB-C → USB-A).
The camera is directly connected to a Huawei MateBook X Pro 2024 laptop.
Connection via hubs/extension cords is excluded.
Camera settings checked:
The "USB Connection" menu is set to PC Remote.
"PC Remote Settings" is active.
"USB LUN Setting": Single.
"USB Power Supply": enabled.
Health has been checked on another computer:
I connected the same camera with the same cable to an old laptop — everything works: the camera is detected in Capture One, Live View and control are available.
That is, the problem is observed only on the main laptop (MateBook X Pro 2024).
Tested in other applications:
The camera is recognized correctly in Sony Creators’ The App (via Wi-Fi).
Adobe Lightroom and Sony Imaging Edge also work via Wi-Fi and USB.
Updated and verified:
lightroom Classic is the latest version.
The camera firmware is current Sony a7R V (ILCE-7RM5) version v3.00.
USB drivers in Windows have been updated.
Antivirus and firewall do not block lightroom Classic.
I ran lightroom Classic as an administrator.
, System information:
Main laptop (where it doesn't work):
Huawei MateBook X Pro 2024
Intel Core Ultra 9 185H, 32 GB RAM
Windows 11 Pro (all updates are installed)
Old laptop (where everything works):
[LENOVO "old Windows 10 laptop"]
Camera: Sony A7R V (latest firmware Sony a7R V (ILCE-7RM5) version v3.00 )
Connection: directly via USB, without hubs
