Question

Sort or filter on ISO

Usually, the photos that need attention for noise reduction are those taken with high ISO.  How high varies a bit with the camera, but generally I want to consider applying noise reduction at ISO 1600 or higher and sometimes even ISO 800.  And the best time to apply noise reduction is at the very start of processing.

Given these considerations it seems odd that LR does not provide any help in locating the high ISO images in a collection or folder.   Ability to sort on ISO would be extremely useful; alternatively, a way to filter on high ISO could serve much the same need.  Neither of these options would seem to present much difficulty since ISO is recorded in the EXIF information.

Rikk and Per already answered correctly, but if it’s still not clear, here is a demo of adding the column and filtering the list.

And yes, it can be confusing if you haven’t done it before, because there are controls at multiple levels of the Library Filter and also on the left and right side of the top of each column…you do have to move the mouse around a lot to click the correct tiny and hard-to-see control for each step. What can make this even more challenging is that the tiny drop-down arrow that lets you add or remove the column is visible only when the mouse is over the column header bar! So you might not see that arrow if you don’t already know it’s there.

There is a limit to the number of columns you can create, however. I can’t check it now because I type this on my iPad, but you can definitely not have just as many columns as you like. I think the maximum is around six.

The limit is 8.

Click on the down arrow in each column header to get an Add Column option.

Adding columns is not possible as far as I know.

You’ll have to use one of the existing columns.

Can we add a column to the MetaData filter bar?

You can filter by ISO speed under Metadata in the filter bar.

If ISO doesn't show, click one of the column headings to get a menu where you can choose ISO.

If you're looking to filter on a range of ISOs, select multiple ISOs in this metadata filter that Per has posted - click on the first you want, then shift-click on the last, and all within the range will be selected.
