SSD hard drive with LR Classic reviews and opinions wanted.

Curious to see if anyone else has gotten an SSD and how they have seen any improvement if at all.  I have a fusion drive iMac, 2017 with I5 processor.  So the SSD in this iMac is pretty small.  Was wondering if putting my catalog or LR on another SSD external would help.

The general advice is to put your catalog and previews on the SSD, this will speed up the Library module. Do not put the photos on the SSD, they can go on your slowest disk and you won't notice any difference.  Ian Lyons did a thorough study on this: Will an SSD Improve Adobe Lightroom Performance? | Computer Darkroom

Also, would it benefit if the catalog and images were on the SSD?  Or only previews, images etc?  Thanks for any help.

I'm using Windows 10 on an old HP Pavilion desktop computer that I replaced the main hard drive with a 1 TB SSD that has my Windows on it as well as my programs. That means that Lightroom, and the catalog, and the previews are installed on the SSD. My images are installed on other spinning hard drives. I have, as a test, had images imported onto the SSD just to compare performance, and I have not been able to determine any difference in performance in having the images on the SSD or on the other spinning hard drives. I did note some improvement by having Lightroom installed on the SSD.
