Standard & Smart Previews generation slow to generate

Mac Sonoma LRC 14 

 

So this only happens during a specific situation. If I import one set of photos (whether its from an SD card or an SSD) the previews generate as they should. For some reason, if I go to import another set of photos directly after (regardless whether its from an SD card or SSD) the previews take FOREVER to generate. About 10x longer than the first set. The only variable is when the photos are imported. Its always the second set. This has been a problem since LRC 14.

I am not able to replicate this.

Tested Mac OS 14.7 (Mac M1) 30 days since last reboot
Lightroom Classic 14.0.1
(3) Batches 37 images, 35 images, 39 images (Canon 5d MKIV)
Import from SD Card to local HD
Copy Option
Build Standard Previews
Build Smart Previews
 

Insert first card:
Time to completion 1:06
Insert second card:
Time to completion 1:04
Insert third card: 
Time to completion 1:07
