Subject: Lightroom 6 version 6 used to but no longer launches with with macOS Mojave Version 10.14.6

I have Lightroom 6 version 6 purchased in August 2018 installed on my Apple Mac with macOS Mojave Version 10.14.6; I have declined upgrades to higher OS versions including declining the most recent for macOS Monterey; however Lightroom now crashes on startup. "Lightroom quit unexpectedly" followed by several pages of Problem Details and System Configuration.  It was working just fine, but now it won't start up. Additional information: Lightroom database is ~650GB; Mac HDD free space 1.83TB of 3.12 TB. (Reposting as received no comments previous post on April 3rd 2022).

Try using a recent backup of your catalog file. COPY (not MOVE) the backup to a new folder on a different disk. See if it will open from there by double-clicking on it in your operating system.

Many thanks - I regret to say it crashed again - created (or in the process of creating) three files:

LR 6, if installed will run under Mojave (even LR5 will). If you keep crashing, the first thing to do is try resetting the LR preferences:

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/setting-preferences-lightroom.html

Quit Lightroom Classic.
MacOS: Press and hold the Shift + Option keys.
Windows: Press and hold the Shift + Alt keys.
While holding down the keys, launch Lightroom Classic.
When asked, select "Yes".

Any better?

With Lightroom 6 closed, check the Lightroom sub-folder where your Catalog file is located and see if there is a file with the Catalog name and an extension .lock (dotLOCK).

If there is a lock file delete that file as it will prevent Lightroom from booting.

You can then try to boot Lightroom.

Thank you for suggesting a solution.  There was a file labelled "Lightroom Catalog.lrcat.lock" in my catalog file; unfortunately deleting it has not resolved the issue.  Lightroom begins to launch as far as showing the small size launching display (see attachment below) and then crashes - and creates a new "Lightroom Catalog.lrcat.lock" in my catalog file and a 16 page "Lightroom quit unexpectedly" crash report.
