Sudden failure to sync in Develop Module

I have continued to have this very intermittent issue. For some unknown reason when I go to sync changes from one image to multiple images in the Develop Module it no longer works. The sync screen selection options doesn't come up and the nothing else works. There is a chime that rings with every attempt to enter another option. I have found that pushing escape allows me to continue with everything else other tahn the sync option.

Previously with my perpetual liscence, on advise from an adobe expert  I would navigate to C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Preferences\Lightroom 6 Preferences.agprefs and rename Lightroom 6 Preferences.agprefs.OLD and the problem was fixed

But now in Lightroom Classic the problem has recurred for the 1st time and I am wondering what the fix is??

Please advise

Mark

For buggy behavior, consider resetting your preference file. This involves having Lightroom delete it, then to recreate it. Be aware that the new preference file will have many or all settings (in preferences) reverted to defaults. It is not a setting in the preference file that might be fouling things up, it is a corrupt preference file that is fouling something up.

No real way to know if a preference file is in fact corrupt.

And your preference file might be just fine, so this may might accomplish nothing helpful

Also be aware of a possibility that Lightroom will not remember where your previously opened catalog is (not normal)

    Several links to look at:

Are you perhaps using dual monitor? Is the missing screen on the other monitor.

If using a notebook.laptop connected to an external monitor, look at the LCD.

No,Thanks David, nothing so complex- single monitor. It is such a random event. I occasionally merg a working catalog on my laptop with the master catalog on this main computer. But there doesn't seem to be any connection b/n these two events
