Switching from RawTherapee/GIMP on PCLinuxOS to Lightroom Classic on iMac
Dear Adobe Lightroom Classic Users,
Intro: I'm Tanmay, a hobby photographer based in Taunus region of Germany.
Current Camera: Canon EOS 90D (.CR3 RAW format)
Post-processing using: RawTherapee 5.8 & GIMP 2.10 on PCLinuxOS
Query: Whilst switching to Lightroom Classic?
Background:
- The current implementation of RawTherapee 5.8 does not natively support the Canon CR3 format
- So I have to manually apply the camera profile and adjust the white balance, before I can actually start the post-processing.
Current thought proccess:
- I have been advised to switch to Lightroom for better post-processing of images
- I have over 16,000 photos occupying over 330GB (RAW & processed) that are organised in folders as per dates
Help required:
- Has anyone an experience in switching from OpenSource world to LrC?
- Since I'm not keen on a cloud version, is there any limit of photos/diskspace in Lightroom Classic?
- Can I choose - how I organise my photos? or LrC decides it for me?
- What is the price of the subscription?
- Anything specific that I need to keep in mind whilst "finalizing" my switch?
Many thanks
With kind regards
Tanmay Joshi
