Sync is doing nothing?

I have a catalog on a ext hdd

I use the catalog both on my desktop and once in awhile on my laptop

The catelog has a few sync'd collections in it, but most of my sync collectoins are on a different catalog.

I am tryin gto sync a new collection from the catelog and nothing happens. I have rebuilt the sync data twice. There is no activity in the sync activity window. The local sync activity blue circle spins when I drop down the cloud sync icon in the upper right corner.

What do I do next to troubleshoot the issue?

It is only possible to sync from a single catalog. It is possible to have multiple catalogs, but once you have chosen to sync from one of them that is the only one you can use for that purpose.

Thanks, I was aware of that, what I dont know is how to turn off sync on the other catalog? In the past I have experienced that when I try to turn on sync on a different catalog there is a dialog box that warns me of the fact that sync is enabled on a different catalog and if I want to change to the current catalog, but nothing like that is happening? I have not changed my sync catelog in quite a few LR version updates, so at a loss on how to change the sync to this current catalog?
