Sync issues after import from another catalog

My Lightroom Classic catalog got corrupted so I created a new one and imported all my photos from the corrupted one. That worked fine. Now, I am trying to get it back to syncing properly. I enabled sync on the new catalog. Lightroom created a "From Lightroom" collection set, but all downloaded collections remain empty. Sync stopped after approximately about 2,000 photographs and has remained at that count for several days even though there are over 30,000 photos to be synced. Sync Activity continuously shows cloud asset downloads, but no progress is made. The original local collections remain intact but are no longer linked to the cloud. Enabling sync on one of those collections creates a duplicate cloud album instead of reconnecting it. Does anyone know what I should do?

    Hi @Joshann,

Thanks for describing the issue in detail. I can see you're in a tricky situation after recovering from a corrupted catalog, and I want to help you get sync properly reconnected.

I have a few questions that will help me point you in the right direction:

    • What version of Lightroom Classic are you currently running? (Help > System Info, copy & paste all the content here)

    • How large is your cloud storage usage? You can check this at the Lightroom web under your account info. Specifically, do you see all 30,000+ photos listed there in LR Web, or is the cloud state also incomplete?

    • When you say "Sync Activity continuously shows cloud asset downloads, but no progress is made," is the count of synced photos actually frozen at ~2,000, or does it fluctuate at all? Also, have you left Lightroom Classic running uninterrupted for an extended period (e.g., overnight) with a stable internet connection to see if the count eventually moves?

    • Are there any files shown under the "Sync Errors" section on Lightroom web? (Look in the lower-left of the web interface.) Sometimes corrupted or unsupported files from the original catalog can block the sync queue.

    • Do you have any other devices (Lightroom mobile, Lightroom on another computer) still connected to sync with the cloud?

The duplicate-album behavior you described when enabling sync on an existing local collection is, unfortunately, expected in this scenario, because the cloud already has an album by that name linked to the old catalog identity. Lightroom Classic creates a new cloud album rather than merging into the existing one.

Once I better understand your setup, I'll be able to walk you through the next steps.

I'm looking forward to hearing back from you.

    Best,

Thanks so much for your reply. I had to get Adobe service to help me. They were able to get it fixed.
