Sync of cropping does not always work

LR classic 15 on Mac OS 15.6.1.

 

There are two pictures stacked. One is a raw file, the other one is a PSD version of the raw. I crop the PSD file, select both files, PSD file is the active file and sync the develop setttings (in develop mode). Only the crop settings are selected. The crop of the raw file does not change. 

 

I did redo the same with other pictures and it did work.

I found the problem. It was between chair and keyboard:

I have cropped the raw image before I sent it do Photoshop (and forgot this). So the Photoshop image had a different size as the raw image. As I cropped the final PSD image and tried to sync this with the raw file, the sync did fail because of the different image sizes. 

 

A meaningful error message from lightroom would have been nice.

Adobe won't pay much attention unless they can reproduce the bug easily. If you share the two photos, then we can see if the problem occurs on other installations and file a bug report. Upload them to Wetransfer, Dropbox, Google Drive or similar free service and post the sharing links here.
