Synced images folder preference not actuallhy changing

I have a strange issue that is a bit infuriating.  I'm using LRC 14.5.1  on a MacBook Pro with OS 26.

 

At one time, I was using an external SSD for my synced image location but have now changed it back to another volume that is a network share on my NAS.  This was how it was previously configured and worknig for quite some time.  The progam refuses to actually respect the new location  and keeps downloading  to the external drive.

 

If uncheck the box in front of he location, it downloads the images to an obscure place on my system drive.  No amount of changing that foler location actually does anything except continually use the external drive.

 

I've deleted the preferences file butthat has no effectd on that setting.

 

What else can I try?

LrC is not certified for Mac OS 26.

this behavior was happening before the OS upgrade and is unrelated
