Synchronisation of All Synced Photographs not working properly

Hi

Lightroom Classic is showing 12,216 in All Synced Photographs

Lightroom is showing 12,250 in All Synced Photographs

Lightroom Web is showing 12,250 in All Synced Photographs

Lightroom Mobile on my iPad is showing 12,250 in All Photos

Lightroom Mobile on my iPhone is showing 12,250 in All Photos

LR Classic has been syncing 7 Photos all-day - I have no idea why - any help appreciated.

Should LR Classic be in sync, is there a legitimate reason for it not to be in sync?

As an experiment I imported 4 images into Lightroom, added them to an Album and the Album appeared as a Collection within 'From Lr mobile' on Lightroom Classic. I then used Lightroom Classic to remove one of these images from the Collection and so far it has not been removed from the Album on Lightroom.

Is there a way to 'reboot this synchronisation?

Also, I find this statement on the Lightroom basic help page and I am not really sure what it means, any ideas?

Thank you for your help.

Regards

I never thought to look in Help for logout! I logged out from the CC app and left it for about 4-hours before logging in again.

Very soon I had 'Syncing 7 Photos' so I did another rebuild and watched the numbers counting down.

Now I still have 'Syncing 7 Photos' but only 1 pending in the sync tab. It is the one that I removed from the collection in Lr Classic that I had created in Lr, it must be waiting to sync upwards with the mobile apps.

    Thank you for your help.

UPDATED: I have been watching the Lr sync tab which is still showing the 1 Pending which is the upload, but what I have noticed is that every 30s or so the Yet To Be Processed: 0 Image Updates is changing to 4 Image Updates, then back to 0. Then 3, then back to 0. It has been doing this for the last couple of hours.  Can it be a coincidence that 4 + 3 = 7 and Lr Classic still shows 'Syncing 7 photos' in the top left hand corner.

    Thank you for your help.

So I have resolved my issue, but it seemed like hard work!

Having established that Lr Classic was synchronising down from the Adobe Cloud but nothing from Lr Classic was synchronising up to the Abode Cloud I did the following taking comfort from this Adobe help.

    • Create a new empty Lr Classic catalogue
    • Allowed the new catalogue to syncronise which 'downloaded' all my images from the Adobe Cloud, in reality it attached the images to the physical file on my local disk, except where it could only find a Smart preview
    • Use the Folder plugin from Jeffrey Friedl to export all my synchronised images in their original format to a new location on my local disk. I had to locate some originals for a few of the Smart previews.
    • I rateably exported and fixed Smart previews until I had a full exported copy of my synced originals into a separate folder on my local disk.
    • I backed up the exported images (175Gb) and new Lr Classic to an external drive then deleted both them from my local disk.
    • I deleted 'All Synced Photos' using Lr Web.
    • I opened my original catalogue and allowed it to sync, there were no synced images to synchronise so it sat at zero.

At this point I confirmed that new images from my camera roll were making their way to my local disk via the Adobe Cloud.

I was able to start synchronising my collections from Lr Classic  I want on my iPhone and iPad.

I have achieved what I wanted and so far have not found any issues.

Any videos shot or imported into one of the mobile apps? Even if all syncing is completed, they are not counted by ASP and would be a difference.

To reboot, you could simply try signing out in Lr Classic, then signing in later. Recently I have found this unblocked problems. But there is also rebuidling the sync data - in Preferences, Lightroom Sync, hold down the Alt key and Rebuild Sync Data becomes available.

As for your question about Adobe's statement, they are not saying "Do not use them together". instead it is more like "We are not suggesting that you do".  Sure, the names may make you think that's what they intend, but it's more a case of them porting the mobile apps onto the PC/MAC and switching round the names. On the same computer, there isn't much point having both unless you really do want to upload originals in Adobe's cloud - Lightroom Cloudy is great at doing that. But it has fewer features than the classic Lightroom and any comparable features are usually weaker. If you know what you are doing, it can be handy to have on one's other machine, equivalent to the iOS apps.

    John

Rebuilding the sync data has not made any difference.

I could not workout how to logout in Lr Classic, I assume you mean from Adobe Creative Cloud; I will leave it logged out for a while to see what happens.

My iPad says there are 41 Videos in the library, therefore 12,250 - 41 = 12,209 + 'Syncing 7 Photos' = 12,216 - so the math does seem to add up.

These 7 have been stuck for several days now.

Also, the one image I removed from the Lr Classic collection that I had added in Lr can be seen in Lr presences waiting to be synchronised.

What I had not previously mentioned is that this iMac is 'new' in so much as I reformatted the disk on Friday and have been rebuilding it manually rather than a Time Machine or clone restore. I have previously had 7 images showing as failed synchronisation in Lr Classic.

    Thank you for your help.

Signing out from LR's Help > Sign Out menu or from the CC app are effectively the same. Recently I have found that signing out does seem to tickle sync process so it gets back to normal, so I would try that option.

When you go into LR's Preferences' Lightroom Sync tab, wait a few moments and the lower half should display a list. Does this give any clues? Maybe paste it here.

    Hi Ian,

That shouldn't be happening, let us help make it right.

Could you please try updating Lightroom Classic to version 8.4 via the Creative Cloud desktop app and let us know if it helps?

    Regards,
    Sahil
