Syncronizing catalog results in missing photos that are not missing.

After my catalog was cleared in an upgrade (it left zero photos).  I opened a 4 day old backup and tried to synchronize it with my pictures folder.  This resulted in 200+ "missing" photos.  These photos are not missing though.  When I view one, Lightroom reports "Original + preview" and when I right click and select "Show in explorer", it shows the file.

Windows 10 x64, Lightroom 7.3.1

There's a long-standing bug where the Synchronize Folder command shows an incorrect number of missing files: Lightroom: Synchronize Folder shows spurious number of missing files | Photoshop Family Customer Community . Please add your constructive opinion to that bug report, and be sure to click Me Too and Follow in the upper-right corner.  That will make it a little more likely that Adobe will decide to fix it.

The workaround is to ignore what Synchronize Folder tells you and use the menu command Library > Find All Missing Photos instead.
