Tethering a Sony RX10 IV live mode

I've gone to try to tether my camera with Lightroom and it would appear that Lightroom can't do it.  Lightroom lists a very limited number of cameras that it can handle to do tethered capture with.

So is there any way for me to connect my Sony RX10 IV via a USB cable and have it display the shots I take, as I take them.  I was able to download some Sony software to show my shots live as I take them, but I do not like it. Would much rather it was all dealth with within Lightroom.

I have the latest version of Lightroom and as mentioned the Sony software works so the connection settings on my camera must be correct.

I'm going to add a work around, but it is not ideal.

  • Set up your Sony software to live tethering and tell that software to put the files into an appropriate folder.  (also I've set up the camera to copy files to camera memory card and also PC in raw at the same time)
  • Go to lightroom and File -> auto import settings -> enable auto import.
  • Point it to your folder (which should be empty at the start) where the Sony software is copying them to.
  • Shot some photos, and they should appear inside lightroom.

Noticed that if I take say 8 shots quickly it batches them for auto import which isn't terribly fast.

LR only supports tethering Nikon and Canon cameras:

Over the years there have been many, many requests to support Sony, but Adobe has given no indication that they're so inclined.

You solution of using the Sony utility to tether and then auto-importing into LR is the best you can do using LR.
