Tethering works with Desktop but not laptop
Tethering in LR works on desktop, but not laptop. Both are Win10 64bit and at the same version (10.0.17134 Build 17134). Both are running LR CC Classic version 7.3.1). The laptop is a Dell Inspiron 2 Intel Core i7, 16GB Ram, NVIDIA GeForce 940MX. All drivers are all current including video.
I start a successful session 100% of the time on my desktop. However, with the laptop, about 99% of the time after starting a tethered session LR reports "no camera detected". I have tried the following things listed below without success. Occasionally, the camera tether is detected (Canon 7D MKII or Canon 5D MKIII), but no camera settings (e.g. ISO, WB, etc.) are displayed. On the back of the camera screen, a computer icon shows and does not go away and the camera's controls unresponsive.
Things tried:
Changing order of starting LR and devices.
Rebooting laptop.
Restarting camera.
3 Different cables (all work on desktop)
Set Autoplay, for cameras "take no action".
Deleted agprefs file
Checked for conflicts in devices, as well as for multiple portable devices.
I am at a loss as to what to try next? With my desktop I attach the camera, turn it on, start LR, and initiate a Tether session and that is it...it works!I
