Text filter in library

In the library module there is the text field to find images by filename. I recently imported a properly formatted list of 253 image names into the text field. Again, this was formatted proiperly with no carriage entries and with commas.

Not only is lightroom not able to pull these images (it appears to just disconnect from entire catalog database) but the text field is automatically filled with the same list every time I try to use the text search field.

This effectively forces me to quit LR and restart and I have no access to the text filter now.

Any ideas on this?

Hi Scottgable.

have you been able to resolve this issue - exactly the same issue occurs to me and factualy breaks LR after I want to apply a text filter.

1. I search for file names separated by a space (in my case 1k images) via text filter

2. No results are shown

3. If I want to unset the filter - no images from my library are shown anymore

4. I need to quit LR otherwise I cannot see my images any more

5. Trying to remove the search string does not change anything as the text string is still cached (in the search field) and immediately causes the issues above (i.e., all images from library are not visible anymore and I need to restart LR)

You need to click on ALL PHOTOGRAPHS in the Library Module before you do the search.

In the Filter Bar, you need to select Contains and not any other choice.

If your filenames have spaces in them than this will not work.

I assume you are attempting as shown in the image below?

The Image below only has two file names typed in via paste, but shows the concept. Note that this image was with Show Pictures in Subfolderrs on.

lightroom not able to pull these images

What folder have you selected? Are the photos in question in that folder?

Also, are they in a subfolder, and do yo have the option to show photos in subfolders on?

The image below is with the option to include photos in subfolders off

That is a default behaviour, it brings up the most recent.

This effectively forces me to quit LR and restart and I have no access to the text filter now.

Are you able, when you select the text filter to delete the entry?

Have you considered resetting your preferences file?
