Question

The Lightroom Classic application doesn't start in Windows 11

I am trying to start LrC on my windows laptop but nothing opens up on my screen. It has worked without any problems earlier. I use LrC version 14.1.1 and Windows 11. I can see in Windows Task Manager that LrC are working but the application will not show up on the screen. Anyone else who has experienced the same problem and have a solution?

Sometimes LrC doesn't close properly. When you try to launch again, nothing seems to happen.

Open Task Manager and look for Adobe Lightroom Classic under Processes. If it is there, select it and choose End Task.

Then try launching LrC again.

Alternatively, reboot your computer and try again.

The problem can be also a faulty catalog. Hold the Ctrl-Key while starting LrC. This will open a catalog selection dialog as shown in the screenshot. The display of the existing catalogs will be different.

First select the appropriate recent catalog and let it check it – note the checkmark "Test integrity of this catalog" to check its integrity. If that doesn't help, try to create a new one and see if this catalog works. If yes, you could then try to import your current catalog into the new one.

Check the folder where the catalog and previews are located. If you see a file that ends with .lock, delete that and ONLY that file. That file gets left behind if LrC does not close properly such as in the case of a crash.

Hi,
Thanks for your help. I found 3 .lock files and deleted them but experience still the same problem.

Thank you for your suggestion. I tried it but unfortunately didn't it solve my problem. No difference from before.

As information I can add that Photoshop and Lightroom starts without any problem on the sam PC.
