LrC issue

Using LrC and a Mac Book Pro.  I moved a year’s worth of pictures to an external SSD drive to make room on my MAC and spent the better part of yesterday editing my favorites to print.  I was able to export the images at low res for screen / social media purposes but when I went to export those same pics to high quality (300 dpi) images, I noticed the exclamation mark on many of them and received the message "The metadata for this photo has been changed by both Lightroom and another application.  Should Lightroom import settings from disk or overwrite those from the catalog?”

I need to pick either "Overwrite Setting" or "Import Settings from Disk".  I tried to call Adobe Customer Support but when I finally get to the prompt to get to a person with LrC experience it tell sme a person will be with me and then it disconnects.  One other relevant point is that I also updated my Mac OS to Tahoe 26.2 yesterday.  Perhaps the Mac update created an issue or the fact that the pics were on an external SSD but at this point I am stuck not knowing what happened and which of those 2 options I should choose to keep the edits I made and preserve these favorite pictures.

Any assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you are 100% sure that no other application has been modifying your metadata or editing your photos, then choose "Overwrite Settings"

For completeness: that "other application" may include a different LrC Catalog, if one exists which also refers to (= has also got imported) the same files on disk.

Good point from @richardplondon . We have seen people come to this forum, who didn't realize they had two catalogs, and had bizarre and unexplainable behavior by their assumed only catalog. So @Of the Sea Photography do you have more than one catalog? What happens if you search all folders on all disk(s) using your operating system's search feature for files whose name ends with .LRCAT ? How many catalogs do you find this way?
