Too many forum notifications

I am receiving too many emails about posts I am not following (see screenshot).  A little while ago I posted here on the forum and clicked 'Email me when someone replies'.  This did not happen, despite replies being posted to my query. 

So I then went into my profile and clicked those notifications I wish to receive (see screenshot).  However, I am receiving a huge number of emails for posts I am not following! 

What can I do about this?  Is there something I have missed?  I know that the notification bell will show if someone has replied, but that means remembering to check, and could result in a delay in responding to someone who has kindly replied!

Sounds like you may have accidentally followed the entire forum. You can see what forums and threads you're following by clicking on the account button in the upper-right corner and selecting Edit Community Profile:

Then wait for a while (t's very slow) and click Following:

 

That will show you the "communities" (forums) and individual posts you're following and give you the chance to "unfollow" (unsubscribe).

    I didn't realise that you have to uncheck boxes in the 'Following' tab as well as the 'Notifications' tab. 

    Weird in that I wasn't getting any emails at all before even though I had my selection checked in the 'Notifications' tab and had clicked  'Email me when someone replies' on my posts, plus clicked 'Follow' on some other posts.  I don't know how I would have accidentally followed the entire forum!

    I will see what happens now!  Thank you very much for your reply.

    Ah, having gone into the main Library Classic forum I can see where you can click 'Follow' !  I certainly didn't deliberately click this. Hopefully I will get the notifications I have requested!
