Transfering Lightroom Classic, files, and licensing sync timing to new computer

Moving LRC from old PC to new PC

All Adobe apps are up to date
Files are backed up to the cloud with BackBlaze

I currently have a laptop that i use while traveling a few months a year and a 12 year old desktop PC. It was state of the art back then, 32MB Ram, newer 8GB video card, i7, SSD boot drive and 3 HDD drives, etc
Apps and Catalog are on the boot SSD drive

>200,000 image files are on the 3 spinning HDD drives.
Each HDD has only one parent folder with all files in child folders

I am in the process of copying all the images to the new computer over my network

they will maintain their 3 seperate parent folders but be on a two different 14TB drives with different names so I know I will need to relink LRC to the new file locations.

My delima is the best way to activate Creative Cloud on the new machine once my files are all transfered. Should I deactivate it on the laptop which I am not using right now as i am not traveling? Keeping my license active on the old computer for now?

The old computer will ultimately be reformated and given to a friends teen once i know all is well on the new computer.

Then reactivate my license on the Laptop?

Does that seem like the best way to do it?

    If this is a Creative Cloud subscription, just sign out of the old machine and sign in on the new.

     

    Your file organization is irrelevant as such. You can do that in advance, and then relink from the new LrC installation once you've signed in. Your catalog and your photos are not tied to any specific installation of the application.

    Is it only the catalog in addition to the files to move to the new computer before signing out of Creative Cloud on the old computer. is that all i have to do? no other files?

    All you have to do is sign out on the old and sign in on the new. If for any reason you want to use the old computer, just sign back in there. You can be signed in on two computers at a time with the typical personal subscription.
