Tricky Problem: Teathering RAW + JPG

I am trying to teather using Teather Tools Air Direct (TTAD) from a 5D Mark IV into LR CC 2020 on a MBP.  The camera is set up for RAW + JPG.  TTAD recommends this set up. The problem is that LR is rendering the CR2 file first, thereby taking 3 to 5 seconds to render. Is there a way to force LR to display the JPEG file first? Or is there a way to tell LR to only display the JPEG file and not the CR2 file?  As an experiment, I downloaded the trial version of CaptureONE, and it works fine (displaying the JPG first).  The support team at TTAD was not able to help.
