Hi,

My lightroom is in a total mess! *takes a deep breath....

Ok so on my harddrive I organise my folders by month and year, for example "June 2022" then inside that folder are my sub folders with each shoot i have done in that month and labelled accordingly. Problem is in my lightroom the individual shoots dont show as subfolders under June 2022, they are all visible in my library which i want to tidy up into the subfolder "June 2022"

any help is much appreciated as its driving me nuts trying to figure it out and Im just making further mess of it all

Many thanks

Gavin

how do I mange to do this?

Folder names like "June 2022" will not sort properly (chronologically) in any software or operating system that I know of. Doesn't that drive you crazy?

Folder names like 2022/06 will sort chronologically and makes using folder a little easier. However, I do agree with @john beardsworth that folder organizing in Explorer makes things harder in Lightroom Classic, and recommend keywords and metadata for organizing and searching.

Post a screenshot so we can see the problem.

It may be that you need to right click one of these shoot folders and "Show Parent Folder".

It also sounds like you're doing folder organising in Explorer, which will make life harder for you in LR. Remember that LR's objective is to manage your pictures all the way from card to their final output.
