Trouble uploading to lightroom

I am using Mac (11.6 Big Sur) and Lightroon C 10.4 and having trouble uploading photos taken with Fuji x100V since lightroom reports no photos found and will not go to sub folders on ScanDisk. Same disk works in other cameras and used to work in same x100v earlier. Also get the spinning beach ball for a few seconds when working in lightroom. Any suggestions.

I am trying to upload photos from a scandisk to a lightroom folder but according to a post from lightroom it cant find the photos in the subfolder. This was using LrC. When I opened in Lightroom CC the photos opened almost immediately.

I think if LrC could search in subfolders it might solve the problem but I cant make it open subfolders.

There are many different meanings of the word "upload". There are many different ways to "upload" something in Lightroom Classic. What is the exact name of the Lightroom Classic step you are using? Do not use the word "upload" in your answer.
