Unable to import mp4 video From Canon R5

I am unable to import any video files from my Canon EOS R5. The thumnail for the mp4 files in the Import window says "Preview unable for this file". And, of course, when I attempt to import these files I get "An unknown error occured while reading the video file". The video cache setting in Preferences (iMac running MacOS 12.5) does nothing helpful. Based on other threads I have read with similar problems, Lightroom CC is useless for video. The format I use is standard video file format, 4K, color space BT. 709, C.Log 3, etc. Is there a workaround for this?

Initial troubleshooting steps to narrow down the problem:

1. Make sure you've granted Full Disk Access to LR, as detailed here:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/quick-tips-how-to-give-full-disk-access-to-lightroom-classic-on-macos/td-p/12913413

2. If that doesn't help, use Finder to copy one of the .mp4s to your Desktop and then try importing from there.

3. If that doesn't help, attach a small problem video here and we can see if other LR installations can import it.

Please post your System Information as Lightroom Classic (LrC) reports it. In LrC click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste that information into a reply. Please present all information from first line down to and including Plug-in Info. Info after Plug-in info can be cut as that is just so much dead space to us non-Techs.
