Unable to load Topaz Photo AI as a Plug-in

I built a new computer.  I loaded LR Classic and Topaz Photo AI.  Both programs work independently as expected.  On my old computer,  I was able to add Topaz Photo AI as a Plug-in to LR Classic.  When I try to do this on my new computer, I get an "error occurred while trying to load this program" message, and the plug-in does not get installed. Any suggestions?

Topaz suggested that I uninstall Photo AI, then reinstall the program.  I did that, and now all is working as expected.

  • Is the problem when installing Topaz Photo AI, and as such the error appeared at the end of the install when the plug-ins get automatically installed?
  • And if so, have you inquired over at Topaz?
  • Or, did the plug-ins actually get installed and the error is from LrC when attempting to use the plug-in (not when installing)

oh, and screenshots of error messages can be helpful.

No error messages appeared during installation of the programs.  I know the Topaz program should automatically get installed into Lightroom, but it did not.  When I go into the Plug-in Manager of Lightroom and try to add it manually, I get the error message from Lightroom. Both programs work independently as expected.  I have tried numerous restarts of the computer too.  I am about ready to try uninstalling, then reinstalling the programs.

I have contacted Topaz.  they have so far just verified what I said above, but do not have a fix yet.
