Unable to open Lightroom Classic after running out of battery with Lightroom open.

Hello,

I'm having the following problem with Lightroom:

I had Lightroom classic open and my Mac ran out of battery. When I plugged the computer and try to opened it I couldn't do it. I restarted the Mac, I updated Lightroom to it's newest version and I still can't open it.

I'll put photos of the error .

I'm desperately tryng to find a solution because all my work is in Lightroom.

How bad was the shutdown, was the MACOS give you a notice, then gracious closed running programs down and then shutdown. Or did the computer just go bang, dark?

In the later situation, LrC was not closed properly, in effect a forced close, even a crash. As such the lock file would have not been deleted as it would normally, that is when you close LrC normally.

In the folder that the catalog is on, look for the lock file. Be careful to select the correct file. Delete it, and cross your fingers that the catalog did not get corrupted.

The presence of a .lock file will not crash Lightroom. Yes, you must delete it if it is present, but it's not what's causing this crash. Start by deleting the preferences. Don't reset them, delete them.

If that does not help, then temporarily move the catalog folder to another place, so Lightroom can't find it. The catalog could be so corrupted that it brings down the application each time Lightroom Classic tries to open it. If Lightroom does start now, then let it create a new catalog to see if that does work. If it does, then the conclusion is that your catalog is damaged beyond repair. Replace it by a backup copy.

I Did not state the lock file if existing caused the crash. Stated the sudden shutdown could have left the lock file behind. OP stated cause of shutdown was battery power loss. OP did not state if laptop shutdown was graceful or not. Hence, check for a lock file.
