I am unable to open Sony ARW files (Lossless Compressed RAW) created by a Sony A1 (ILCE-1) cameras running firmware Ver. 4.00. I am using the latest version of LrC 15.2.1 release and Camera Raw 18.2.2. Has anyone faced the same problem? Any solution would be much appreciated.

I tried some sample Sony A1 and A1M2 .arws using Lossless Compressed Raw from dpreview.com, and my LR 15.2.1 imported them correctly.

As a next troubleshooting step, share a problem .arw here.  It will probably be too big to attach to your reply, upload it to Wetransfer, Dropbox, Google Drive or similar free service and post the sharing link here. We can see if the issue is specific to your computer or occurs on other installations.

    Hi John,
I have uploaded two files here https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1d7sUPiSQ47nvldNip-2UToRZtH2RcEto?usp=sharing I am able to open the files in Photoshop.

LrC shows a preview of the files on trying to import LrC opens a dialog box “Some import operations were not performed. An unknown error occurred” and lists the files in the box.
    I appreciate your help.

@Ian Lyons I reset the preferences. Still no improvement.

If you have Photoshop installed, then try downloading the latest build of Camera Raw (i.e. 18.2.3).

Note that above version of Camera Raw is not available for Lightroom Classic. So, you must access it via Photoshop or Bridge.

The latest Adobe Camera Raw Version I can download for Photoshop is 18.2.2.2512.
Maybe Asia/India gets a different version. I also used Bridge to convert the ARW files to DNG, but LrC still refuses to import them.

I used DxO Pure Raw 6 to convert the ARW files and LrC had no problem importing the files.

I can’t understand why Adobe can’t fix this major bug! I am truly disappointed having just paid upfront for the annual subscription for the Adobe Suite.

Hi @Karanvir.singh, like John I tried importing a couple of Sony ARW Lossless Compressed RAW files in Lightroom Classic 15.2.1 and experienced no issues.

Could you tell us what’s happening when you try to import the files? Are you getting an error or do the files don’t show up in the import window?

Please go to the Help menu in Lightroom Classic, then System Info, and copy the text. You can share the info with us by either pasting it as a reply here or in a text file and sharing the file with us.

Meanwhile, if you’ve not tried reinstalling Lightroom Classic yet, please try to do that and let us know if it makes a difference.

    Thanks,

    Nikunj
