Question

Unable to transfer Light room catalogue to my new iMac

I purchased a new Mac office and transfered all my files. I reinstalled photoshop & lightroom but the catalogue with all 9392 images did not load onto the new computer in lightroom. The LR catalogue is still on my old imac but everytime I try to open it adobe wants me to sign up for a trial. Surely if I do this I will confuse the account I already have with adobe. How can I import the catalogue to my new Mac. I have tried everything. Help would be much appreciated as I cannot contact Adobe directly only by chat and it is not helpful.

Thanks in advance, Maria

If you transferred all your files (did you use Apple Migration Assistant?) then you also transferred your catalog. Lightroom may need to be told where it is, however. If it does not know, then it may create a brand new catalog. What you also may not have done is login into the Creative Cloud app. That would explain why you get this 'Trial' message.

Thank you for your reply.

Yes I did transfer using Apple Migration assistant and yes I have signed into creative cloud on my new Mac, I expect that is why it won’t let me in on the old iMac.

I have thoroughly searched through all the files on my HD and cannot find the photos, they are still on my old Mac though. I will try to copy the file onto an external HD and see if I can import them.

Do not import them again! The proper way to move Lightroom Classic to a new computer is described here:
