Question

Unable to update lightroom catalog

I have an old version of Lightroom (v5.0). When I open it I get a message saying new software is available, but when I click on 'download' I just get the message 'this site can't be reached'. I have just purchased a Nikon F750 full frame camera  - the raw files are larger than those from my previous camera, and my current version of Lightroom doesn't support these files so I do need to upgrade. I'm running Lightroom on my laptop which has Windows 11, and I have plenty of hard disc space.

Do you mean the Nikon D750? The raw files are supported by Lightroom 5.7 and newer. But I don't know how you can update Lightroom 5.0 to 5.7.1. If you registered your purchase with Adobe, there will be a download link in your Account, but it says the download is unavailable. Maybe Adobe support will help you with the update. Your other options are to convert to DNG and then import the DNG files into Lightroom 5 or to subscribe to the Photography Plan. Here is the DNG Converter info: https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/using/adobe-dng-converter.html

Good point, @CumberLinda , there is no Nikon F750. If the user meant D750, then the DNG Converter would work, and also Lightroom 5.7.1 is available for download at https://prodesigntools.com/lightroom-5-ddl-comparison-vs-lr4.html

I didn't realize those links at Pro Design Tools are still active. Good to know.

There is no update to the old Lightroom 5. Not sure what message you are getting, but you can ignore it.

You can upgrade to Lightroom Classic (current version as of today is Lightroom Classic 13.0.1) by subscribing to the Photography Plan from Adobe, and your Lr5 catalog will be usable in LrC 13.0.1. (Note: you probably do NOT want the similarly and confusingly named Lightroom Plan)

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping to avoid subscription, but it looks like I can't.

You can update to 5.7.1 using the link that dj_paige provided below. But Lightroom Classic is now at 13.0.1. There are many great new features.
