Understanding Classic CC Sync & Catalog files

Hi there,

I have 2 computers (iMac, and MacBook Pro), both with Classic CC and Lightroom CC installed.  I only tend to work with Classic CC

I need to sync Collections between the iMac, which contains my 'master' library, and the MacBook Pro for when I'm off-site.

When I click the sync Start button on the iMac, I get a message:

Another catalogue (Lightroom Catalog.lrcat) has started syncing with the Lightroom CC catalog. Repeated switching between desktop catalogs can produce unexpected results. This is not recommended.

I'm having a problem understanding how the catalog file works when syncing to the cloud, and am unsure of the method I should be using.

Both the iMac and MacBook Pro will have their own catalog files. And presumably, as I have Lightroom CC installed, a third catalogue file exist in the cloud. Is this correct?

On my MacBook Pro, does Classic CC need to be syncing, too, in order to access the iMac's synced collections?  Or is this the wrong approach?  Should I instead use Lightroom CC.

Can only one instance of Classic CC sync to the cloud?

Confused!

Any insight appreciated, many thanks in advance

The warning you mention occurs because Lightroom Classic can only have one catalog synced with the cloud service. You change the catalog though, but doing so can quickly become very messy. This linked Adobe Help document would be a good starting point for understanding how Classic and CC can be synced  How to sync Lightroom Classic CC photos with Lightroom CC

BTW, Adobe don't recommend using both Lightroom Classic and CC together.

Thanks Ian, that clearly explains how to get the photos up into the cloud from Classic CC, and access them on a mobile device using the Adobe Creative Cloud app.

What it doesn't explain the recommended process for accessing those cloud based photos on a second computer, with the intention of editing them in Classic CC. I'm assuming that, on the second computer, I  should access them via the Lightroom CC app, which should allow me to edit them in Classic CC - I'll test this now.

Many thanks again.

I have my main computer, an iMac, which hosts the 'master' archive of photos. Within Classic CC, I can sync a Collection to Lightroom CC. So far, no problem.

On my second computer, I can access those photos within Lightroom CC (where it calls the synced Collections, Albums). Great. And, it allows me to edit those photos, but only in Photoshop? I want to edit them in Classic CC, is there anyway to do this? Am I misunderstanding something?

Still on the second computer, the MacBook Pro, it seems there's no way to access Lightroom CC photos within Classic CC, unless I choose the Sync option, but this is not recommended, and will result in the error message mentioned in my initial post.
