Update from LRCC to Classic OK, but can't re-open new Cat.

Updated from LRCC to Classic went OK,  Worked fine then, I quit out and did a B/U.  I tried to re-open but prompt came up saying" it's too new to be used by this ver. of LR and to select a diff Cat. What?  I deleted the new Classic Cat and re-merged to Classic again with the same results ?

Mac BBP Late 2011 Mac OS v 12.13.01 High Sierra.

    You have accidentally opened LR 5 or 6/CC and not the newer LR Classic CC 7.

    More than likely from the shortcut/Alias on the Dock. Go into the Applications folder and find LR Classic.
