Update the currently linked photo to a different photo

I found the original full-size versions of some smaller photos that I've already edited separately. Because Lightroom recognizes the current photo as the original, how do I go about linking it to the full-size version?

Does the full size version has the same file name?

If yes, you can try to move the "current photo" to a temp. folder and then the full size file to the location where the current photo was located.

Other wise you can try to import the full size photo and synchronize the development settings with the appropirate "current photo".

This solution assumes the files have the exact same name. You could, using your operating system, copy the full sized photo to the folder where the smaller pohtos are located, effectively over-writing the smaller photo. (You might also want to make a copy of the smaller sized photo first). Also, both files have to be JPG, if one file is RAW or DNG and one is JPG, this won't work.
