Updated Lighroom - unable to see my images.

So I probably did a dumb thing, but I was about to import when I got a message to update my lightroom version 13.3 (I think).  Then I got this message about my catalogue being compressed.  It didn't give me an option and so I accepted.  It might as well have said "I am here to fu..k you up"  Anyway, I now have every thumbnail with something weird on it, like Br,   or 1 or a picture of a something like a printer (which I didn't take) all weird stuff.  Anyone know what the hell happened.

I don't quite understand your answers. Please describe what you've exactly done and what's the exact status. What works and what doesn't ?

In the meantime try resetting the preferences of Lightroom Classic:  How to reset Lightroom Classic preferences (adobe.com)

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/preference-file-and-other-file-locations.html

Check the folder where your catalog file is stored. Is there an subfolder named "Old Lightroom Catalogs" which contained a .zip file? If yes then you have a safety copy of your catalog before the update to the new version was done. Unzip this file and restore this file to the folder with your recent catalog. If you start LR 14 you're requested to update the catalog. Do the update and wait with all other action until the update was finished.

I will follow your instructions thank you.  Meanwhile this is exactly what I get.  First thing this morning everything was fine then about 5 minutes later, this happened.

Which format does the file have which you try to import?

What happened if you try only "Copy" or "Add"?

Another try is to create a new empty catalog and try to import several pictures.

Only a idea: check the associaten of the file extensions (ex. jpg) if this is correct.

I un-installed lightroom and then reinstalled. It fixed it.
