Updated Lightroom Classic 14 crashes immediately when trying to upgrade my catalog

Hi

I have just updated my macOS system to Sequoia on my Macbook Air 2020 (1.2GHz Quad Core Intel i/). After that, I updated the new Lightroom Classic Version to 14. When opening this it immediately starts crashing when wanting to upgrade my Lightroom Catalog. I have restarted everything several times, but am now a bit helpless in getting it to work.

Does anyone know what the issue could be? I need to be able to work with it and start regretting having done the upgrade.

Thank you.

Hey, @. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll need more information to help you figure this out.

Where is the catalog stored? On the internal or external drive?

Try these suggestions:

1 - Instead of upgrading the existing catalog, create a new catalog on the internal drive.

2 - If the crash issue is not in the test catalog, go to File > Import from catalog > target your old catalog. Proceed with merging the old catalog into the newly made, internal storage-based catalog. For more help via video-based steps, check here. See https://adobe.ly/3NTC9Rv

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Hi @Sameer K,

Thank you so much for your advice. I first came across the option to load an older version of Lightroom. So I installed Lightroom 13 just to find a way to work on my photos, and it worked fine.
Thanks to your message, I was encouraged to try it with the upgrade to 14.0.1. today again. After it was installed a second time, it upgraded the catalogue just fine, and I haven't had a problem today yet.
The idea of merging the old catalogue with a newly created one seems brilliant, but luckily not needed. Thanks for the video link 🙏. This woman seems to have so many more interesting Lightroom videos to learn from.

And yes, another important thing I have learned is always to have your catalogue on your internal drive, not the external one. I appreciated that question 👍

Thanks so much, Sameer,

Best wishes,
Nicole
