Upgrading to LR 14 Causing Memory Issues

I recently upgraded to 14 from 13.5. For 13.5 and prior, I had no issues. With 14 - Lightroom now occupies 98-100% of my memory and is very slow. Slow to edit, slow to export. Has anyone else come across this and any possible fixes? I have 24 GB of RAM and think I can add only another 8 on that motherboard - but like I said - never an issue before.

Hey, @TSpencer. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll need more info to help you figure this out. 

Where do you keep your Lightroom catalog? On an internal or external drive? Do you have a recent catalog backup? 

Besides the slowdown, monitor the activity & performance in the Task Manager. 

 

As primary steps, try these:

  • Unplug additional displays & use only one by default.

  • Go to Lightroom > Preferences > Performance > Use Graphics Processor > Set it off if it is on Custom or Auto. If this shows you any differences, please check this article to troubleshoot further: https://adobe.ly/3uYiJo4

  • Pause Sync in Lightroom Classic.

  • Go to Lightroom > Preferences > Performance > Add additional space for Camera Raw Caches and purge existing caches.
