Uprading to M1 Mac. Will LR run as native?

I'm about to get a new Mac Studio M1. Will my current LR Classic open as a native or Rosetta M1 app or do I need to download another version? I am currently on 12.1 on an Intel Mac.

You cannot migrate your apps to the new computer. Once you get the Mac Studio running, you can move your data with Migration Assistant if you wish. Then download the Adobe CC App and install your software from scratch. Same with App Store items and third-party software.

Two polar opposite replies. I don't use LR CC. Per the original post, I'm using LR Classic. If LR Classic won't work after a Migration is the best practice to simply delete the Lightroom app and then re-install it? There was a time when Adobe apps required a deactivation process as I recall. Is there anything similar that is required? Johann in the post above seemd to think there would be no problem. It's a confusing world at times LOL. I appreciate your response and help.

Not Lightroom CC. The Adobe Creative Cloud app, the one you start with that installs everything else. And my personal opinion as a long-time Mac admin and former Mac Genius is to not migrate apps, reinstall them. FWIW, I recommend that on Windows as well.

You do not need to download another version. Lightroom Classic contains the code for both Intel and M1 processors, and automatically chooses the appropriate code.

Thanks for the reply Johan. Lumigraphics, below, seemed to think I would need to delete and reinstall LR. ::::sigh :LOL

Believe me, you can migrate the apps. I did when I moved from an Intel Mac to a MBP 16" M1 Max. The apps include the code for both processors, so there is no reason to uninstall and reinstall them. There's obviously no harm either, it's just a waste of time. On the M1 Mac, you can force the app to run in Rosetta 2 modulation, which proves it still includes the code for Intel processors.
